The United Kingdom has had several narrow gauge tramways during the 19th and 20th century, notable amongst them are the Glyn Valley, Hafan and Talybont, and Alford and Sutton. The freelance tram "Sutton" represents a machine that may have run on such a tramway. The body is freelance, but similar in the styling of steam trams built during the turn of the century, featuring ornate ironwork and lining. The boiler is of a similar design to a J70 locomotive, with controls at each end. You will require modelling tools (such as a craft knife, cutting board, files and micro-drills) adhesive, paints and ballast material (such as Liquid Gravity) to assemble the kit. Lining transfers are not included. The kit includes a static chassis for display on 9mm gauge track, but can be motorised with a Kato 11-109 chassis.

This is a highly detailed scale model built using our in house machines, with High Definition resin and build layers just 50 microns (0.05mm) thick. Whilst there is 'stepping' visible on the parts up close, this is not discernible once the kit is painted and/or from usual viewing distances. The parts have their main supports removed, though detailing and structural supports will remain to protect the parts in transit, and require removing prior to assembly. Some polishing and filing of the parts is required to ensure they fit together without a seam. Clear (and varnished) resin windows are included, though you may wish to use clear plastic sheet (not included) if preferred.

NEM pockets and coupling are included, along with painted etch name and works plates.

    READY TO RUN AVAILABLE
This model is also available Ready-to-Run. The locos are un-named, but include fitted Sharp-Stewart works plates. The models also include flush glazing and are equipped with NEM coupling pockets fitted with Peco GR-102 couplings. To give the models the optimum running quality, the body is completely filled with ballast. Any attempt to convert the models to DCC would require a decoder fitted in the cab. Please note that conversion to DCC will invalidate the chassis warranty.
Power is provided by a smooth and reliable Kato 11-109 chassis. The model will be tested and checked prior to dispatch, but will require a period of running-in to embed smooth running. The model will negotiate 9" radius curves.
