Kerr, Stuart and Company Ltd was a locomotive manufacture based in Stoke-On-Trent. Originally founded in 1881, the works built steam locomotives of varying sizes and gauges, until being bought out by the Hunslet Engine Company (Leeds) in 1930. In 1920 they manufactured the first Matary class 0-6-2T for UK traffic, Superior, for the Bowaters Paper Railway.
The locomotive remained on the Bowaters Paper Railway up until the closure of the line in 1969. The following year it was moved, with a number of other locos, to Whipsnade Zoo. Since then, the locomotive has provided sterling service on the Jumbo Express train.
Our 009 scale models feature a highly detailed body that includes many fine separately fitted details, full representation of the cab interior, etch nameplates and flush glazed windows. Also included are NEM pockets which are fitted with PECO GR-102 OO9 couplings. The power is provided by a smooth and reliable Graham Farish 08 chassis, which can be removed for ease of maintenance.
