21st Century Pugbash

21st Century Pugbash

Rapido Trains UK have just added a new model to their growing collection of OO9 locomotives - a 'What-if' Large Tank Cranmore. This freelance design uses the standard Cranmore class chassis, boiler and cab, but features a larger and longer saddle. An additional detail variation from the previous releases is the traditional dome with Salter safety valves.
Whilst no similar prototype was manufactured, this is a design-literate machine that retains the distinctive profile of similar such locomotives built at Peckett and Sons' Bristol workshops.
The first of these models are available in either Peckett Standard Green with open back cab, or Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway black with full rear cab. The latter is named 'Pugbash' in homage to the now (hopefully) long bygone era when one of the easiest only ways to make a 009 model was to fit a L&Y 'Pug' kit on to an N gauge mechanism.

The Rapido models are now available to order alongside the existing Cranmore range, as either DCC-ready or DCC-Fitted. But you don't have long... the order book for all these models, and the chassis, will close on Monday 31st August.
