Beta late than never!
Possibly leaving the best until last here, as Beta is one of our favourite designs for the new Rapido Sirdar chassis. The angled rear cab makes for a slightly longer model, allowing for a low slung boiler and pannier tanks that give it a similar profile to the much loved Lynton and Barnstaple Manning Wardles.
Beta's lining set has taken inspiration from the prototype 0-6-0T 'Alpha' found on the Statfold Barn Railway, with orange-edged black boders. Whilst this is a little more delicate to paint, as the edges need touching up in black, we think the finished result is worth the extra time taken. For those building this kit, don't forget to fit the little valve chests on top of the cylinders.
The decal set for Beta is available now for £7.00 + postage. We have started work on converting our Hudswell kits for the Bachmann Quarry Hunslet chassis, and these should be available later this year.
