Hudswell Clarke changes upcoming...
Some slightly different news today, as we announce that a couple of our kits are being redesigned to fit an alternative chassis. These being the Hudswell-Clarke inspired Bacillus and Kanaka 0-4-0s, intended for the Bachmann Quarry Hunslet chassis. These models work just as well on the upcoming Rapido Trains Sirdar (and Cranmore) mechanisms, and given the significant price difference in the two donor chassis, we shall be withdrawing the Quarry Hunslet version from stock.
We are still happy to produce the original models as commission items (for those wanting one for the Bachmann mechanism), but once the Sirdar chassis have arrived the remaining kits will be withdrawn and the necessary parts converted. So coming months are the last chance for you to purchase these models off of the shelf.
We intend to do the same conversion for the remaining Hudswell-Clarke inspired models of Furburo and Lautoka, but these are currently in the CAD queue. We are not converting all models designed for the Quarry Hunslet chassis, as it is neceesary for some models (such as the Skylark and Stanhope kits). But for those kits which work just as well on both mechanisms, it makes sense to convert them to the chassis we will also have as stock.
