Spotlight on a Lady
Lady Mason is one of the more unusual kits we have designed for the Sirdar mechanism, and it carries some rather quirky features present on the prototype that inspired it. The smokebox iscladded, the tanks and rear cab sheet are very low, and there are two small holes in the cab front such that the crew could reach through to the injector water valve controls.
Andrew Barclay used flush rivets, making for a 'welded' look to the bodywork, which can be a little plain. But it makes it considerably easier to fit decals! In this case, we have created a white-black-white set similar to that found on the Fair Maid of Foyers. There are spares in the set should you also wish to add the boiler straps and wrap around the dome.
The decal set for Lady Mason is available now for £5.00 + postage. We have two more Barclays in the works for the Cranmore chassis 'Irvine' and 'Caledonia', based on their ogee and saddle tanks machines. These should fit both mechanisms, and we hope to have the first batch of these ready later this year.
