The Fourdees A to Z of models ... from Avontuur to ZB

Our final release for Spring 2026 is 'Baroda'. This model kit is of a freelance steam locomotive, heavily inspired by the ZB Class 2-6-2 machines built by Bagnall for the Baroda State and Bengal Nagpur Railways. Between them these railways had over 1000 miles of narrow gauge track, with the ZB becoming one of the stalwart members of their fleets. These machines were built in large numbers through the 1920's to 1950's, with other manufacturers such as Hudswell Clarke, producing them under licence.

The model has the same distinctive profile of the ZB class, but has been scaled down slightly so that a donor Farish 08 mechanism can be used. This makes the model just as approrpriate for representing 2' and 2'3" machines whilst keeping the instantly recogniseable outline of the prototype.

Along with Brecon, these are our largest and most ambitious models to date, featuring a wealth of detail above and below the frames, and in the cab. The kit includes all parts required to assemble working outside-framed motion, including accurate replacement flycranks and ponytruck and tender wheelsets. The first batch of these kits is now available to purchase for £119.99.
