This is a detailed scale model kit for adult collectors. Not for children under 14 years old.
This model kit is of a freelance steam locomotive, inspired by similar locomotives built by Peckett & Sons. Atlas is inspired by the three machines built for the Sena Sugar Estates in South Africa. These were large machines built to a generous loading gauge. The cab, tank and smokebox outlines have inspired a machine that looks more at home on an industrial UK based layout, but would equally suite other continental location.
The model includes all parts required to assemble working outside-framed motion, including accurate replacement flycranks.
This is an intermediate kit. The body is in a single piece, with roof and cab interior to fit. The Graham Farish 08 chassis requires some modification to complete, in this case replacing the frames and all the motion and flycranks. There is no valve gear, and the only delicate component is the crosshead and coupling-rod assembly.
