This model kit is of a freelance steam tramway locomotive, inspired by similar locomotives built by the Hunslet Engine Company. The design has a similar boiler, tank and cab shaping to locomotive "Leeds No.1" built by this manufacturer for the Leeds Corporation Waterworks Railway.
The model carries skirts around the motion, which would be fitted to machines intended to run on lines through deserts (to protect the motion from sand) or alongside a road. The model is of 2' gauge in scale, but would not look out of place on larger gauge systems. As it runs, it carries a 0-4-2T arrangement, but the wheels are well hidden and so it could also represent a 0-6-2T.
This is a intermediate kit, with the body made up of several large components including the lower frame, upper tank and cab, smokebox and roof. There are also many small and delicate parts to fix, including tank tops, bunker heap, safety valves and more.
The model can be powered by any of the KATO 11-108, 11-109 or 11-110 mechanisms.
