In 1957 the Talyllyn Railway purchased a Ruston and Hornsby diesel from Jee's Quarries in Hartshill, and named 'Midlander' after the are group of the the preservation society that donated the locomotive.
This model is of the Midlander in 'Rebuilt' condition, after receiving a completely new engine, transition and superstructure in 1980. This required a re-shaping of the bonet and radiator, and the cab was widened and included a square window.
This kit is produced by Westcliff Works, and features a wealth of detailing. There is also a separate roof to aid painting the cab interior which includes drivers seat and controls. The kit includes a static chassis for creating dioramas, such as in a siding, or possibly as a load being delivered from the factory. It can also be motorised using a Toma Model Works #6531 chassis (sold separately).
