This is a detailed scale model kit for adult collectors. Not for children under 14 years old.
Orenstein & Koppel were a German manufacturer which built thousands of locomotives for domestic and internation use, with many examples making their way to the UK both pre and post the railway preservation era.
OTTO is inspired by their standard 50 HP 0-4-0WT design, an example of which can be found at the Bregdar and Wormshill Railway - Helga. The model depicts an as-built machine, with both injectors placed beside the manifold within the cab. These are on a separately fitted boiler backhead, for ease of painting. The distinctive right-hand-side regulator valve and steam feed pipes are key characteristics of these machines, along with the narrow running frame forward of the tanks, and oval cab spectacles.
The model comes with a Static Chassis that can be used for display, alternatively it can be motorised with a Bachmann N-Scale Percy chassis (not included). The valve chests can also be removed in order for the kit to fit a Percy chassis with our valve gear upgrade kit fitted (not included).
This is a beginner's kit, and comprises a single large body shell, with separate cab roof, boiler backhead and a selection of detailing components with which to personalise the model. A choice of four chimneys is included, with traditional, stovepipe, spark-arrestor and O&K profiles.
