Rapido What-if Short Tank - Works Grey

This exclusive Rapido Trains UK 'What-if' Short Tank Sirdar is fitted with an industrial half-cab and finished in the striking Kerr-Stuart photographic grey livery. Nearly all locomotives from private manufacturers were initial painted in such colours so that they would show up clear in 'works' photograps, which could be used to advertise the product to potential buyers. This model includes grey frames, white-walled wheels and 'SIRDAR' presented on the tanks, signifying the class name of the locomotive.

Whilst the 'What-if' Short Tank is not based on a prototype, it is a plausible variation of the Sirdar class, with slightly taller and longer tanks than the 'standard' version. The half cab was also a standard fitting, similar to that found on 'Diana' and ideal for construction work where clear view of the track ahead was required (and there was less consideration for weather protection for the drivers!).

These models are available either DCC ready or DCC fitted in limited numbers. Both feature six wiper pick-ups and a small coreless motor with flywheel. In order to simplify customisation and servicing of your Short-Tank Sirdar, the loco’s removable body is held in place with four easily accessible screws; this also gives you access to the model’s 6-pin DCC socket.

There is an accessory bag included with easy-to-fit parts to customise the model, including alternative chimneys, dumb buffers, vacuum brake gear, toolboxes, coal bunker covers, and front steps.
