This is a detailed scale model kit for adult collectors. Not for children under 14 years old.
This model kit is inspired by Sierra Leone Govt Railways No.85. The Hunslet Engine Company built over thirty similar machines of 2-6-2T arrangement to operate the railways of the West-African nation. The last of these locomotives, built to a slightly improved design, was No.85. On the lines closure, this particular locomotive was offered to the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway, and became No.14 in their fleet.
This is a large locomotive and the kit is only intended to operate on 12" radius curves. Inside the box there are parts in order to present the locomotive in all main guises it has carried on the W&LLR, including optional fuel bunkers and toolbox. There is a choice of bufferbeams to fit, should you want to attach the pilots/cowcatchers or not.
This is an advance kit. The body is in a several pieces, with roof and cab interior to fit. The Graham Farish 08 chassis requires significant modification to complete, in this case replacing the frames and all the motion and flycranks. There is also valve gear, with several delicate pivoting components to assemble.
