This is a detailed scale model kit for adult collectors. Not for children under 14 years old.
This model kit is of a 0-4-0 Sirdar Class tank locomotive built in the late 1800s by Kerr-Stuart, predominantly for export. These machines are similar to DIANA, but to a narrower design, including smaller water tanks and injectors mounted at the tank fronts.
This model features an industrial half-cab.
The body is scaled to 1:43.5, with CAD created using original drawings from the Kerr, Stuart & Co. archive. The firebox doors are modelled partially opened, to show off the firebox flicker on the Bachmann mechanism (the small plastic shroud around the bulb needs unclipping/removing). There is also a housing inside the smokebox for placing the speaker unit found in the saddle of the Bachmann model (but this will need fix-wiring to the pcb).
The model includes a choice of bunker fittings (ether a moulded coal load or covers). The gauge glasses are clear resin, and lamps are also included to fit if desired. To produce a full bufferbeam, replacement NEM coupling arms are provided, into which the Bachamnn couplings can be fitted.
This is a beginner's kit, and comprises a single large body shell, with separate cab piece and a selection of detailing components with which to personalise the model. If motorising, the Bachmann Quarry Hunslet chassis requires only minor modification to fit.
