"Sirdar" in stock
The Little Blacker Tramway is now set up in its new home, and is back in natural light for the first time in three years. The first visitor to this layout in its new location is our Exclusive Rapido Trains 'What-if' Sirdar, with stock now available to purchase from our website. We have both DCC-ready (£139.95) and DCC-fitted (£179.95) models in limited quantities but ready to ship (both to the UK and overseas).
Nearly all locomotives from private manufacturers were initial painted in a variation of this livery, so that they would show up clearly in 'works' photographs. These were used for company records and also to advertise the locomotives to potential customers.
Besides the fully lined cab and tanks, these model includes grey frames, white-walled wheels and "SIRDAR" presented on the tanks (signifying the class name of the locomotive). We appreciate that grey is not everyone's 'cup of tea', but as shown here it is quite striking against the background of a layout.
