This is a detailed scale model kit for adult collectors. Not for children under 14 years old.
In 1932 W.G. Bagnall built an improved 'Matary' class machine for the Bowaters Paper Railway (now Sittingbourne and Kemsley Light Railway) named Alpha. Such was the success of this locomotive, that two further machines (Triumph and Superb) were purchased to the same design in 1934. The model depicts the locomotive in as built condition, and features a wealth of detailing both inside the cab, and on the frames.
The model includes all parts required to assemble working outside-framed motion, including accurate replacement flycranks and ponytruck wheelsets.
This is an advance kit. The body is in many separate components, including frame, smokebox, saddle, cab and roof. There are also brass body panels to fit within recesses to the bodyshell, to help provide a metallic finish.
This kit has been printed in new HD resin, which is darker in finish to the parts shown in the photographs.
The Graham Farish 08 chassis requires significant modification to complete, in this case replacing the frames and all the motion and flycranks. There is no valve gear, and the only delicate component is the crosshead and coupling-rod assembly.
